About Millissa

With three years working as an Assistant Psychologist in a hospital-based clinical and health psychology service, I supported individuals facing the psychological impact of long-term health conditions. I delivered one-to-one psychological interventions, facilitated group programs, and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).

My training and experience include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT principles, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and other evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches. Alongside my clinical role, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Liverpool and the University of Lancaster, where I contributed to and published psychological research. This keeps my practice firmly grounded in evidence and the latest insights from the field.

What truly sets my coaching apart is this strong psychological foundation combined with real-world clinical experience. Having worked directly with people navigating significant challenges, I bring a deep, nuanced understanding of the full spectrum of human experience — including its difficulties, resilience, and potential for growth.

Importantly, life coaching is not therapy. We do not diagnose, treat clinical conditions, or focus on resolving past trauma. Instead, we look forward — using evidence-informed tools to clarify your values, increase self-awareness and psychological flexibility, and take meaningful action toward the life you want to create.

This blend of clinical depth, research grounding, and a holistic, forward-focused approach gives my coaching both credibility and practical power.

More about Millissa;
Owner of Consciously Connected

I’m a health and emotional wellbeing  coach and yoga teacher based in Melbourne, with a strong foundation in clinical psychology. After three years working as an Assistant Psychologist in an NHS Clinical Health Psychology Service in the UK, supporting people living with long-term health conditions,  I have recently transitioned into life coaching.

My journey into psychology began young. Known as the “why” girl, I’ve always been deeply curious about the human experience. I pursued this passion through an Undergraduate and Master’s degree, extensive mental health experience, volunteering, research, and even starting a PhD.

However, during my PhD I realised I was out of alignment with what mattered to me. Leaving that path was a defining moment — it taught me the importance of choosing fulfilment over external achievement and living in line with my values.

That clarity led me back to hands-on clinical work, which I loved, but eventually I recognised that the traditional psychologist route wasn’t the best fit for me or what I wanted to offer. Discovering coaching felt like the perfect integration of my skills: it allows me to draw on my clinical experience with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT principles, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and psychological research, while focusing forward on values, self-awareness, psychological flexibility, and meaningful action.

My personal path has also shaped my approach. Growing up in Northern England, I’ve navigated significant familial challenges, which strengthened my resilience and commitment to building a life aligned with what matters most. Yoga became a vital tool for me during difficult times — a moving meditation that helped me reconnect with my body and cultivate mindfulness and grounding. Having recently trained as an Ashtanga yoga teacher, I now teach in Melbourne studios, and I bring this embodied, holistic perspective into my coaching.

Life coaching is not therapy — we don’t diagnose or treat clinical conditions. Instead, we work together to bridge psychological insight with practical, empowering steps toward a more conscious and fulfilling life.

When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me on a country walk, at a yoga or pilates class, socialising with friends, exploring Melbourne’s food and coffee scene, reading, or travelling.. I’m passionate about wellbeing, health and living fully — and I’m here to support you in doing the same.
